Sources tell the Independent Collegian that former UT running back Jake Walker has transferred to Eastern Illinois.

The 5-11, 210 pound sophomore from Delray Beach, Fla. ran for 67 yards on 16 carries in his rookie season in 2008 before being redshirted last year.

Walker was listed third on Toledo's most recent depth chart before his departure behind juniors Morgan Williams and Adonis Thomas. Freshman David Fluellen now holds the third-string job.

It's been about 10 years since we DIDN'T have a pass happy offense. I strongly agree that it's important to have a straight ahead 3rd down back, and I am concerned that this could be being overlooked. That being said, I wonder if Poster #1 was around when Chester Taylor was 3rd on the depth chart. From the day he got into the rotation he made plays. Not a yard or two then back on his butt----big plays. Jake Walker did not. Based on what I saw his freshman year I don't see any way he could have been #1 this year. #2 maybe. But, now, neither we, nor he, will ever know that.

As far as Morgan Williams goes, you think he should leave, too? Williams will get his touches, you can be sure of that, and what he does this season will be up to him. Irregardless of the coaching staff and the style of offense, there comes a point where its you, the ball, and space. At that point it's up to you.

Good luck to Jake.

Morgan, make us proud.

The pass happy BG guys ran the football for 162 yds more last season and 24 more times than the previous. The Rockets' Offense went to #13 nationally from #85 in 2008.So much for RBs not having a chance to run the FB at UT. If Morgan can stay healthy he'll have great season will make his case for All-MAC. Jake is more of a straight ahead runner and not really the best fit for the spread. Hate to see Jake go. Good luck to him@EIU.

New Bowling Green, pass happy offensive regime moved in. I hope Morgan Williams gets out of that situation too. Morgan ran for over 1000 yards two years ago, 400 and change last year - if you're a real running back, Toledo is not your school. Jake will light it up at Eastern Illinois. He's the ultimate of speed and power... His pass blocking was the best on the team 2 years ago and he has soft hands. Stay tuned to this one, Eastern Illinois will use him properly.
