"I think we've always played well at home," said Head Coach Kent Miller. "We're excited to be back in Savage Hall and have a chance to get a win. We're a little banged up right now, but we hope we can get some players back on the court soon."
UT lost two matches over the weekend, both by a score of 3-0; the first loss came at the hands of Kent State University followed by No. 21 Ohio University.
The volleyball team hosts rival and East Division foe Bowling Green State University on Friday before hosting Miami University (Ohio) on Saturday.
"We've played some good matches, but we've also had a few tough ones where we didn't play well," Miller said. "We're capable of a strong finish, and we just need to continue to stay focused and prepare well for each match."
Both the Falcons and RedHawks are in the top four of the East Division, in which teams one through four have only one or two losses.
The Falcons are fourth in the standings with a 6-2 conference record, while the RedHawks are in second place with a 7-1 record.
The Rockets travel to BGSU to challenge the Falcons' five-match winning streak and to end the 10-0 record on their home court.
The Falcons are ranked second in the MAC in attack percentage and third in kills (.251) per game (15.21). The team is led by juniors Kendra Halm and Chelsey Meek. Halm leads the offense with a .314 attack percentage and Meek leads the defense with 5.60 digs per game.
The RedHawks play Ball State University on Friday riding on a seven-match win streak before traveling to Savage Hall. The win streak includes a 3-1 victory over Ohio, ending the Bobcats 64-match conference win streak.
"It will be interesting to play both of these teams," Miller said. "Bowling Green is a rivalry match for us, and we've had some great matches against Miami in the last few years."
Junior Shannon Strachan continues to lead the Rockets' offensive threat and is ranked sixth in the MAC with 3.78 kills per game. Sophomore Mallory Ladd is also ranked sixth in the conference with 10.32 assists per game while junior Lori Ruth has consistently served for the Rockets with 0.41 service aces per game.
The Rockets have six matches remaining on their schedule after this weekend's matches. Two more games will be played at Savage Hall, with the last on Oct. 27 against Central Michigan University before ending the season on the road at Northern Illinois University on Nov. 10.
